📍 Wigmore Hall

Wigmore Hall's repertoire ranges from the Renaissance period to contemporary jazz, covering a wide range of musical genres, and aims to broaden the audience's musical horizons. Not only did it attract hot soloists and chamber musicians, but it also provided a stage for young musicians to show their talents. Many people debuted in London here, making it an important platform for their business to flourish. To celebrate my boyfriend's birthday, I made a special reservation for a show as a surprise!

Built in 1901, the Wigmore Music Hall was carefully designed by an architect. The interior decoration uses marble trim, gold plating, and lighting to make it “the most luxurious and comfortable place of its kind”. The size of the concert hall is relatively small, which allows the performers to better convey the emotions of the music to the audience and create an intimate and moving performance atmosphere.

The most notable thing in the concert hall is the dome mural designed by muralist Gerald Moira. Based on the concept of a music hall as an exclusive space for various forms of music, this painting shows the essence of “Love and Psyche” that inspires performers and composers to find the essence of art that Moira finds difficult to grasp. In the center of the screen, an ungendered figure representing the “soul of music” is crowned with a harmonious golden light — a key and uncertain source that musicians and composers are looking for, symbolizing the studio's commitment to the excellent quality of music.

It features marble and alabaster walls, creating a splendid, timeless feeling. What goes hand in hand with gorgeous beauty is the studio's focus on perfect acoustics. According to reports, the design of the concert hall, including its shape and material, has been carefully considered to achieve the best acoustical effect and ensure that every note resonates clearly and warmly.

What we enjoyed this time was the performance “The Price of Love” by the British vocal band The Cardinall's Musick. They mainly perform 16th and 17th century Latin music praising God, as well as several solo songs adapted from English poet William Blake (William Blake). In addition to solo singing accompanied by an oboe, the other tracks are all composed of the chords and resonances of the entire team, which is very healing. Wigmore Music Hall's Under 35 Scheme allows visitors under the age of 35 to buy tickets for £5, simply by calling to book. After listening to this concert, it not only reminded me of my old days with beautiful voices; maybe I'll regain this passion later!
