Dartmoor Pony Heritage Trust

Home Farm Cafe

After a four-hour drive from London, we first went to Dartmoor Pony Heritage Trust's Home Farm Cafe for breakfast. Most of the ingredients here come from our own farm just a few minutes' walk away, and indoor and outdoor seating are available for visitors to choose from.

Home Farm Cafe Hamburg

We ordered a hamburger bun, which included smoked meat, chicken intestines, and vegetables, along with a potato cake and caramelized onions. The texture of the hamburger is amazing, and all the ingredients are delicious!

Home Farm Cafe hamburger

The texture of the hamburger bun is excellent. The outer skin is crispy and the inside is soft, and the sesame seeds on the top make it even more delicious. I took a close-up photo of this hamburger bun and felt that it was more delicious, so I decided to share it with everyone!

Home Farm Cafe Chili Honey Croissants

Additionally, we ordered a chili honey croissant. The vegetables on the croissant are all very fresh, and the honey flavor is also very rich.

Haytor Down

Haytor Rock

Afterwards, we drove 10 minutes to Haytor Down. Haytor Down is part of Dartmoor National Park (Dartmoor National Park), which mainly includes. Haytor Rock, a towering granite rock famous for its unique geographical characteristics, is one of the most famous landmarks in the area. You can walk to the top of the mountain in about ten minutes from the parking lot. Please note that there are two parking lots nearby (Haytor Car Park and Haytor Upper Carpark), but their parking tickets are not interchangeable.

Haytor Lowman

Next to Haytor Rock, stands tall opposite Haytor Lowman. According to reports, both of these granites were formed by molten magma gushing out of the depths of the earth's crust in response to the movement of land and the rise of mountain ranges. As the magma slowly cools, three different crystals are formed: feldspar (white granules), mica (glossy black granules), and quartz (gray granules). These unique rock formation processes have made Haytor Rock and Haytor Lowman precious objects of study in geology and nature.

Haytor Rock climbing

The tin jewellery and bronze tools discovered by archaeologists in Dartmoor date back more than 4,000 years. Because of its strength and durability, granite has been a common building material in England throughout the ages. In addition to attracting geographers and mountaineers, Haytor Down also attracts many rock climbing enthusiasts to take on the challenge, allowing visitors to enjoy the spectacular scenery and ancient nature.

Haytor Down Visitor Center

Haytor Down's Visitor Center records a lot about the history of this place and sells related souvenirs.

Rainbow after rain

When we first arrived, there was a downpour of heavy rain. Due to the mixture of dirt and rain, we decided to go back and forth after a few steps. Fortunately, after I found another parking lot, it had already rained and cleared, and I was lucky enough to see a rainbow fleeting in a blink of an eye!

Tavistock

Tavistock map

Afterwards, we drove 50 minutes to Tavistock. Tavistock is a vibrant and unique town famous for its wide variety of independent stores, the famous Bunny Market, the award-winning agricultural market, historic architecture, and beautiful architecture. For the past thousand years, Tavistock has been governed by two rich and powerful institutions, the Benedictine Monastery and the aristocrat Russell Family. Today, their influence can still be seen in the town center's street pattern, medieval ruins, and exquisite Georgian and Victorian architecture.

English Cream Tea (Cream Tea)

We first went to the local teahouse, The Kitchen, to taste Cornwall's must-eat English cream tea (Cream Tea). You can spread cream and jam on the scones according to your preferences, and choose your favorite tea.

Local craft shop

Afterwards, we found many exquisite works of art at a local craft shop nearby. The crafts here are all made by local artists, including paintings, woodwork, ceramics, etc.

Abbey Cloisters

The cloister of this Atsukaisai monastery once adjoined the abbey church. This grand structure was completed in 1318. However, with the dissolution of the monastery in 1539, the church gradually declined, and was finally demolished in 1700. Today, the only thing left is an arch in the cloister.

Inmon Court Gate

This building was built by the Duke of Bedford in 1848. It was originally a mill at Tavistock Abbey, and was later chosen as the town hall of Bedford Square. However, it ceased to function as a court in 2001.

Overnight stay: Land's End Hotel

My boyfriend decided to go straight from London to Land's End on the first day and drove over 7 hours. It was really hard work. It was already late at night when we arrived, so let me introduce our hotel in more detail on the 2nd/3rd day itinerary!
