Zhou Enlai Maritime Memorial Park
Zhou Enlai Maritime Memorial Park is located in Jinxiang Town, Lufeng City, Guangdong Province. It covers an area of about 48,000 square meters. It aims to commemorate the important historical actions of Zhou Enlai, Ye Ting, and Nie Rongzhen after the 1927 Nanchang Uprising. The park has been rated as a national AAA tourist attraction, and is also an important party history education base in Guangdong Province.
One of the most remarkable sights in the park is a group of bronze sculptures representing historical scenes. In the North District, a set of bronze statues of residents recreated the scene of local people saying goodbye: some people waved their hands, others watched the journey, truly depict the connection between the local people and this period of history, showing the cooperation and support between the revolutionaries and the local community.
Another set of bronze statues recreates the scene of Zhou Enlai crossing the sea with his companions. In October 1927, the revolutionary situation became increasingly strained. They boarded a boat from Jinxiangzhouzhu Village, ventured to Hong Kong, and finally arrived in Shanghai to continue participating in revolutionary work. The sculpture captures the calm and fortitude in their expressions, making one cannot help but imagine the dangerous life of the time.
“Comrade Zhou Enlai Crossing the Sea” is engraved on a stone monument in the southern district of the park, marking the beginning of this period of history. The environment around the stone monument is quiet, making people feel the richness of history.
The park's mural depicting the two shaking hands at the seaside is particularly striking. This is a historical story that local residents are proud of. The details in the mural are beautifully portrayed, echoing each other with the group of bronze statues, showing this period in its entirety. We visited the park at nightfall and only explored a small part of the area. There are also many sculptures and exhibits throughout the park, which record this period of history and are worth in-depth experience and understanding for visitors.
